Her name is Dot, short for Dottie.

Yes you can call her Dot or Dottie,
no other name will do.
While organizing my SEW TOGETHER
room, Dottie just would not sit still,
well she did for this photo,
but she was more interesting in just swinging..
Someone give her a push please...
please tire her out...
Ü

She was made from two selections
of red polka dots that are as crisp
as they are clean. She so suits
red, doesn't she?

Her hand curled wool
with her red dot bow
is so befitting of her
unique festive personality.
She even has a red polka dot
slip underneath her full dress.

She smells of cinnnamon
and nutmeg and she is ready
for some tea and some rest...

Oh was that a yawn I just noted?

Well, as I have a few errands to run
I am sure she will rest till I return...
Thanks for tiring her out...

Keeping you in stitches

Part 3 of It's a small room but it is my ORGANIZED room.

Sew we continue and let me add, there is no Part 4.
Enough guilt for 3 days, don't you think?..Ü

This wall is across from my design table,
The wardrobe on your far left used to be for
my clothes, ( I now have another one for my bath
room)  this one stores all my extra fabrics
that I have not cut, among other things..
list is there.

The smaller tall wardrobe I purchased at Sears
that used to be in my bathroom for towels
and toileteries, now it is perfect for my paints,
paper, card stock, trim, ribbons....

And my shelves, well they used to be
book shelves that we had in storage,
dug them out, cleaned them up,
and they are perfect for my doll collection.

I went to our local antique shop and found
stools, chairs...swing and whicker chair,
I located from a local doll supplier...
She carries, doll stands, doll furniture
and angel wings, which she is trying to locate
yet another supplier.

Almost forgot these...my fur
trim, I put 2 hooks behind
the door, and there
they hang proudly..

Now, if you can think
of anything else I should have
in my room, please let me know?
Yes?

Orange fabric for an orange doll,
on it's way ...

Ahhhh Part 2 It's a small space, BUT it is my ORGANIZED space!

Sew I continue to either entertain you or at least provide
you with some ideas on how you too can be more productive
in 2010.  There I said it, this could be a NEW YEARS resolution
for some of you.
I am all about being thrifty and taking advantage
of things I already have, like bookcases, wardrobes,
shelves, all in all in organized materials to give me more space.
And as doll and bear makers, we can always use more space..
( nod yes) Ü

Take for instance this bookcase, you can find these
at Ikea. I was searching for a perfect height and width
for an ironing station. The fact it had 4 shelves for
added storage was a bonus. It is 3 feet wide
and about 4 feet in height. I took a piece of wood
covered it  with some quilt batting, and stapled
some chocolate brown with pink dots as my ironing
board. ( of course dots) lol... Perfect size
for ironing all the body parts and dresses.
And I spray everything with Lavender linen spray
( give you that formula on how to make your own
on another day) Part 3 tomorrow.
Oh you could use an old dresser too for an ironing
station. mmmmm

This white cupboard was a JAM cupboard,
it never really did house jams, but a lot of t-cups
at one time. But I had a kitchen for that...♥
SEW, I painted it white and now it is ideal
for my hair collection...( wool -  for hair)

I like to keep my sewing machine seperate from
my design and construction table ( showed
that yesterday) That actually was a dining
table we purchased 20 years ago,
and it was always in storage as it was
too large for us once all the kids left home.

This sewing fold up table I found at Walmart
for under $20.00. I like it because it is the perfect
size to sew and there is no room really to pile
up anything, sew it always stays neat.
I have a tree of bobbins, once a month
I wind 20 bobbins of white, ivory and black
sew I always have a back up...Gosh I am
beginning to sound a bit like M.S.
( not my intention at all
this world does not need another Martha)
Ü
Lighting is very important, sew I did invest
in 2 OTT lights, they are as natural as the sun
for sewing. Sew I have one at my sewing station
and yesterday, you could see the table one on my
design and construction table. Both I purchased
at SEARS, watch for their sales, I got them
1/2 price, sew that was buy one get one free.
I would call Sears and ask them when their
next sale is, should be in January...

Ok, I had provided a couple more
pics but this was just too much too
savour all in one day Ü...Sew tomorrow
part 3. Shelving and hooks behind door
for boas and my new doll...

It's a small space, BUT it is MY space. ( Part 1)

Just sew you won't be asking me what is this and that lol
Thought I would illustrate my Sewing Room for you.
I call it my SEW TOGETHER room...
(see it ?)
And Sew Together is no doubt up for debate.
Ü

And yes, I am working on a new doll.
Not an orange doll but close...mmmmm
(fabric is on its way)

Ahhh everyone needs a CUP COZY.
( that is the pink thing on the table)
I created these years ago...made from
goose down and a nice cover to go over
your cup of coffee, to keep it hot for 2 hours..
Essential for us doll and bear makers who
sometimes get side tracked...
( despise cold coffee)

I love small figurines of women
I have a couple on my lamp
there for inspiration for future dolls.

Oh the basket on the chair,
I fill it each week with fabrics
that I choose for the next dolls..
Reminds me to stay on track...
Yeahhhh, like that is working for me..lol

My BF Marcine, sent me this sign
which is on my cut fabric cupboard.
"To save time, let's assume
I know everything."

She said as soon as she saw it reminded
her of me. (She sent it this week as a Christmas
present) Not sure how to take it:? LOL...

But I can tell you having a sense of humor
really helps when you are creating dolls.

Oh you can see a bit of clock by the cupboard.
it has Whatever in the middle and it looks
like all the numbers fell off the clock...
( I am not really obsessed with time...
some other time...lol)

I love cartoons and have been creating
them for years ...
One of my Fav's is the one by the window..
"Pick me for your self help group"?

Like I said, it helps to have a sense of humor..

"Free your inner psychopath"
 is the iron quote..

Not quite sure I agree with that one either...
but it did make me chuckle when I saw
it at the One of a KIND show...

Part 2 tomorrow...
the new wall of cupboards, dolls,
sewing station...

Keeping you organized.

To YOU, it's a spice rack, to me it's..

I know you see a spice rack, and I for sake
of any argument see one too? Ü
Although for just a moment pssst doll, bear, princess,
giant baby makers....,
What else do you see?

Time is up...lol
I see it as 16 good size containers,
that don't take up too much space,
perfect storage for buttons, ribbons, needles,
notions, bobbins...you name it...

Sew, I asked my hubby to "fly in" to pick one up
at Kitchen Stuff  Plus ( here in Canada)
I am sure you have many of similar
places around where you live that sells
spice racks...

As many of you know, I am all about
organization, sew this weekend, we are spending
it placing more shelves and cabinets in my sewing
room. I was trying to come up with some
ideas that would work to HOME my notions
and stuff... and this is what I came up with..

And of course, once everything is all organized
I will show and tell..

I just thought with Christmas around the corner
and if your family is stuck for a gift
that would be practical, this may be
a good suggestion..

Keeping you organized today
